final session!!! Finished Product!!

After a few days of working with Emma I learn a lot more from her than she did from me.
This was an amazing experience to teach her and help her learn to blog. She enjoyed blogging so much even though at first she was to she to write a word. I wish she would have done a video or a recording of her. But she didnt want too and her mom agreed for her not too.
All in all GREAT Experince!

Follow Emma so you can see our finished product!! TA DAAA!

session two/three

Today we start on gathering information to answer our questions! we surfed the web and youtube and even my textbook from my class came in handy. As we gathered all of our information I asked Emma what she want to do as a project! She said she would like to make a poster board "Concept Map"! She did not want to be recorded or filmed because she is shy. So a poster in her our words would be perfect for us!
Here is what we gathered Biodiversity Information
and our answers to our questions!
After we gathered all the information needed to complete the board we began to type, print, cut, color, and glue! Can’t wait to see her final product of her concept map!

Session One!

In this session I just wanted to take the time and introduce the student that I will be working with. The student is 14 years old and happen to be my niece Emma =) . I asked her what she wanted to learn more about in her education and she said she really didn't understand the food web and how its affects us.  I let her know that, that is what she and I were going to be focusing on and I created a K-W-L for her and a blog so she can type her own experiences.

Enjoy our process!

Assistive Technologies

In schools everywhere there are students who will be faced with challenges in learning, hearing, and seeing. As a future teacher it is important to know what devices can help the students succeed in school. On campus I was introduced to devices I never knew existed, I was able to see how they worked and who the work for. Jennifer Weir did an amazing job explaining each device and software. One that stuck out to me the most was the Echo LiveScribe!!

For more information on these device check out >> Technologies

Movie Making!! WATER CYCLE

As for my video I did not need to use music and other animations. My video was simply directed by me, creative director was me, and I did it all. I recorded my one minute and nine seconds video with an Iphone 5 and uploaded it to youtube.
My video was about the water cycle and how it works targeted to a first or second grade class. I use little to no distractions. Please watch and enjoy my video!!

IPADS FOR EVERYONE

What an exciting century to teach in! Thanks to the Lord of Technology, now teachers have an easier and entertaining way of teaching!
All of the applications for the ipad  can also be used for iPhones and Ipods. Having all of my students with Ipads in the classroom would be very beneficial. Using the Ipad in the classroom helps with motivating the students, because they are doing work online rather than on paper. Also submitted things online on the ipad lowers the expense of materials.I can see myself as a future teacher using this in my classroom with my students. In research project we can all use different apps to find what we are looking for. also it would be a great way for students to quiz themselves and submitted online rather paper. I would like to use this tool to emphasis on conservation. According to the article above the ipad gives motivation to the students by keeping them focused and entertain while learning. its also a great way to record video and share with them via a blog. there are various ways on using the Ipad.

2 cents & Now/future blogs

After reading several of Davids blog entries on 2 cents Worth of Seeking The Shakabuku. Made me realize how important it is to me to keep up a blog during my college career and my future teaching. A particular blog entry that stood out to me the most was title “The Game” is was how a going to school and seeking a career is a game and knowing how to play it by making good grades not just by memorizing the answers but by actually learning.
In my college career, I feel I can use this tool of blogging to enter experiences in student teaching and knowledge gain from those experiences and ways to improve myself and ask fellow future teachers what they think. I my future teaching career I would love to use this tool as a way my students can engage with other students outside the classroom. Also the way David posted he video on his blog I would love to email with my blog to my future students parents with a welcome video and a what to expect video, in order to prepare them for the first day of school.  The possibilities of what one could do on the blog are infinite, just learning how to do them is the problem :)

The NEED for Inquiry Based Learning & Project Based Learning!

As a future teaching I'm always looking for ways to help me become a better guide for me future students.  In this entry I am going to tell you why it is a NEED to have Inquiry Based Learning and Project Based Learning in the UnitPlan!

Inquiry based learning involves the student and leads them to understand. Inquiry questions allow the teacher to ask questions about new resolutions and issues while the students are gaining new information. Inquiry is seeking knowledge, information, or truth through questioning. Project Based learning is teaching the students with real-world problems and challenges. With this type of learning student become active and engaged during learning. With these two types of learning tied into the unit plan a teacher can have effective learning in their future classroom. Every student learns differently and it is important to provide different learning scopes into the classroom. Asking questions with a question is more of guidance to the answer in inquiry learning and applying real world situations can aid in learning.
